Decorative Recessed Trims

Recessed lighting, often called canister (or can) lighting, are luminaires installed into a hollow space in a ceiling. Canister lighting directs illumination downward as either a broad floodlight or as a precisely aimed spotlight. Essentially, there are two components to recessed lighting: trim and housing. Trim is visible to the observer; it includes the insert seen within the fixture and the edging that encircles the light. The housing is the luminaire; it is installed above and hidden by the ceiling. Since the introduction of recessed lighting in the 1930s, standard trim has included either a black or white baffle. More modern canister lighting styles have introduced a variety of decorative recessed trims used in a number of applications. BuildersLighting.com carries an array of decorative recessed trims in an assortment of shapes and styles. We have low profile, drum, cylinder, square and rectangle shaped trims with frosted, crystal, alabaster, melon and imaginative "art" glass globes. You'll find recessed trim finished in satin nickel, chrome, natural slate/ebony, warm bronze and gloss white. The large assortment of items found in our catalog are an ideal complement to the interior design of any home or office.
